Abigail & Gabriel

Abby and Gabe first met in late August of 2014, on the Ohio University Campus. Since they were both majoring in early childhood education, they had been placed in the same learning community, meaning they had ALL of their classes together that first semester of college. Throughout college, Abby and Gabe spent many hours in the same classes and gave each other the occasional hug when running into each other on Court Street, but did not start spending much time together until graduate school.


During graduate school, the two co-taught a classroom at Nelsonville-York Elementary School during the 2018-2019 school year where they were sometimes called “the dynamic duo.” That year, they fell in love with their classroom of preschoolers and soon realized that they were also falling in love with each other. As teaching together proved their compatibility, the friendship quickly blossomed into the love you all know today.


From the very beginning of their relationship, both admitted that they already knew forever was in store. It was easy to convince Abby to move in with Gabe and his beloved pup, Caton, but the ball python, Brian, and corn snake, Fiona took some extra convincing. Soon after moving out of Gabe’s small college apartment, they wanted to give another dog a forever-home and got Ziva. While approaching the end of their first official year of teaching, the COVID-19 pandemic started and they learned to share their “classroom” again as they taught kindergarten and third-grade remotely.


Despite all that time at home together, Gabe proposed to Abby in July 2020 at Shade Winery where they had celebrated their Graduate School graduation together with their family the year before. The two love to explore, and hope to make memories in the Dominican Republic with their closest friends and family at their tropical winter wedding in 2021. They completely understand that this will not be possible for everyone they love and hope to have a celebration closer to home at another date.
